Back on Track!

Hello Everyone!

As many of you know, I lost my granddad to a massive heart attack on March 3rd. This came as a shock to my family and has taken a little time to swallow. He was a great man with shoes no one else could fill. When we talked of golf, he'd say "I don't know much of it, but try your hardest and show 'em your good." He was always in support of my dreams and wanted the best for me.

So, starting April 8th, I will begin playing on a new tour called the Emerald Coast Golf Tour. I will start with a two day tourney in Destin. Most of the tournaments are around Panama City, Destin, Pensacola, and a few in Tallahassee. I am very excited to begin. They will consist of multiple day tourneys rather than the one a day I was competing in. I am still a member of the Moonlight Golf Tour and will still be competing in Orlando, too.

I recently played at St. James Bay in Carrabelle, Florida. I took my girlfriend, Brittany along and had a 11:00 tee time. I played the course a while back and shot 1 over 73. My goal was to beat that. So, off we went. I posted a 1 over, 37 on the front which I felt was not good. However, the highlight on the front nine was when Brittany found a new friend. (Look at the picture on the right side of the blog.) So I tightened down and started playing. I birdied the 12th, but the big turn of the day was the fifteenth. The Par 5 plays 522 yards with wetlands all over it (see picture on right). I hit a three wood and was 189 yards from the green. It was either bail right or go for it and if you know me, I went for it. Well, to make a long story short, I holed out and made my first Double Eagle, a 2 on a par 5. I had only hit a 3 wood, five iron...my most memorable shot! So, Brit and I started calling people, and I got so wound up in it, I bogeyed the next hole. My new goal was to shoot under 70, so I needed another birdie. I made par on 17 and made a hard earned birdie on 18. I did it, I shot 3 under 69. The club pro said it was the first double eagle on the course, and I had missed the course record from the back tees by one shot. Oh well...it was a big ego boost and just what I needed to get rolling again.

I am co-hosting a Charitable Golf Tourney for Sheriff David Hobbs on May 2nd. This will be the first tournament I have ever put on. It is a four man scramble, with three flights. It costs $75 per person. There will be lunch before and dinner afterwards. The first and second place from each flight will each receive a brand new driver from TaylorMade. We have great prizes, such as a new TaylorMade putter for longest putt, and for the lucky few who make a hole in one on 17, $15,000 in cash! All other par threes will have prizes including a LCD Flat Screen TV, a new set of Callaway Irons, and much more. We will be giving away 24 dozen TaylorMade Balls, and each participant will receive a goodie bag with everything from tees and balls, to a certificate for a free club from Warrior Golf. Lots of fun and prizes all for charity! There is a limited field however, so if you're interested call me at 850-508-4536. Also, anyone can come to the meal after the match. It's $10.00 and starts at 7 PM. RSVP by April 20th. Hope to see you there!

Thanks to Chris and Carrie Conlon for the money gift! Your gift made it possible for my most memorable round of golf yet! Thank you both so much!
